what a week!
the clinical experience continues to go well...i've already learned a ton (especially about treating patients with spine pathologies, which hasn't been covered in school yet) and have been given freedom to try new techniques...i've also developed something of a case load in that there are a few patients i treat with minimal to no supervision. this has been fun! these patients are super motivated to get better and we've had many interesting conversations along the way. my CI (clinical instructor) has been great in giving me feedback about how i'm doing, which is really important to me, and i'm enjoying working with her so far.
on tuesday, steve and i were able to meet up with steve comer (a longtime friend of steve's from salinas) for dinner just down the street from our home...we had a good time hanging out and hearing about his adventures on the road with jack johnson as part of his lighting crew.
which leads me to wednesday. steve comer set aside two tickets for us to see jack johnson that night at the comcast center in mansfield (just south of boston)...we all thought they were going to be lawn seats at the back of the amphitheater, but instead the seats were in the pavilion section, about 20 or so rows from the stage! the show was awesome, and we were even able to sit at the lighting booth for a while to watch all that happens there.
yesterday, i was done at the clinic early, so i took a drive out to nantasket beach to visit steve and his campers. it was so much fun to see them interact - the kids just love him! and so does the staff...one of the unit leaders gushed to me about how wonderful steve is! after a couple of hours there, i had to get back home...and as steve and i gave each other a quick goodbye kiss, he received cheers from a few of the boys :)
last night, the boutry/robins home was host to a fajitas and margaritas night. steve, seth, amy crawford, diana (my good friend from PT school) and i enjoyed some delicious food and entertained ourselves with apples to apples and loaded questions...so much fun!
now on to a relaxing saturday watching the olympics...this year is especially exciting for me because a few of my former usc women's water polo teammates are in the games, and the tournament is not being aired at 3am this time!
also of note: check out steve's blog for a fun camp video!!
